The three dimensions of E-Government

Image
There are three types of dimensions incorporated within the realm of E-Government according to Arild Jansen (2005) which are, the democratic dimension(e-democracy), service dimension (e-service), and the administrative dimension (e-administration). The democratic dimension is how the people who elect the officials get in contact with them and voice their opinion on certain matters. This has changed so much within the last twenty years because their are dedicated webpages out there to look up and find your local congressman (or woman) and directly email them any concerns. This was not something you could do twenty years ago and is a direct move forward in the name of e-Government which makes the new technology work for the people. The old saying work smarter not harder is quote that directly relates to this type of style of governing the people and in many cases can reach more people. The service dimension is relating to the service side that public agencies administer to the public...

How can e-Governance help its citizens

People today are very busy and constantly on the go with all different types of things going on in their life. How can the implementation of e-Governance help its citizens when they need something from the public service? Years ago you would go to the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) office and wait sometimes for hours simply to talk to someone than have to fill out paperwork and it was a very long process. Now with the implementation of online systems you can fill out the paperwork before hand and streamline the whole process. You can have the paperwork filled out and be in and out of there within a few minutes as opposed to the old system of grabbing a number and waiting until someone can give you a form. This is a huge benefit to both the employee and the citizens that frequent these places for things they need. As society becomes more technologically advanced systems like these will become more of the norm and it is up to the up and coming public administr...

How can e-Democracy help unify the divided political USA

Image
It is clear now more than ever that the United States is more divided now than it has ever been since the civil war. Now in today's modern age another civil war erupting in America seems highly unlikely but if you watch carefully you can see just how divided people in America truly are. Now with that said how can we make a better system where there is not such animosity and hate towards each other and truly get people to have compassion for others? It may seem like a fairy tale becoming a Utopian society especially in America where there has been a huge divide which has only worsened since the end of the civil war but there is steps that can be taken to help heal and come together. Now you can't realistically expect people to come join and huddle around the camp fire and sing Kumbaya together but there is things with the implementation of eDemocracy that can help bring people together. Pia Mancini brings up a system her country uses to help bring the usefulness of the interne...

E-Governance

Image
Hello and welcome to my blog as I take my journey through my MPA program at Troy University. This class's focus is on the development of E-Governance and what exactly it is and what direction it is heading as technology advances. E-Governance is the institution of information technology being integrated within the government allowing full public disclosure to the public. This process can quickly push out information to the citizens about every different public agency through the internet. Can you imagine George Washington and other old public administrators being able to conduct the meetings for the implementation of the Bill of Rights through open source internet meetings? My experience in the public service are short so far as I have been enlisted in the Coast Guard since January of 2015 until the present and have gained valuable public experience. Getting to know how exactly E-Governance works and the way it is going is very important moving forward as I plan on makin...
